SMX Is looking for Die Setters! The Die Setter plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by setting up and maintaining dies and molds used in various production operations. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the dies are properly installed, adjusted, and maintained to meet production specifications and quality standards. The Die Setter collaborates closely with production teams, engineers, and maintenance personnel to optimize production processes, minimize downtime, and ensure the efficient operation of equipment.
SHIFTS:
- A shift 7 am - 3 pm
- B shift 3 pm - 11 pm
- C shift 11 pm - 7 am
- $10,000 sign-on bonus. New associates will receive after 90 days!

Job Responsibilities

- Provides support to Manufacturing by participating in problem-solving and continuous improvement projects to enhance quality and reduce scrap
- May initiate quality alerts to communicate changes in control plans, process instructions, or acceptance standards
- Functional understanding of Statistical Processing
- Assist SPC Supervisor in auditing X and R charts
- Training operators in SPC
- Know and understand which control dimensions, weight, etc., represent statistical control for the part being molded
- Coordinates Prototype, tool layout, and PPAP activities and ensures customer requirements are secure
- Sets the example to maintain the Manufacturing Quality Plan
- Process FMEA, in conjunction with the Engineering
- Control Plans / Reaction Plans
- Process Sheets, Work Instructions, Standardized Work, and JSA's w/ Inspection Instructions
- other system or process documentation to assure quality
- Ensures necessary gauging and documentation are in place to support the control plan
- Assists in experimental activity related to product/process variables
- Monitors ongoing product quality and processing by maintaining daily contact with manufacturing (i.e. engineers, supervisors, associates, other team members, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of the internal customer
- Thorough understanding of all press functions (set up, operation, maintenance, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of mix changes, cleaning, cut-ups, and weight adjustments
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED certification
- Die Setter training class or equivalent work experience in production (preferred)
- Fork Truck Training/ License
- Cincinnati 550 Ton powder metal press (preferred)
- Dorst 400 Metric Ton powder metal press (preferred)
- Able to work any shift (1st shift: 7AM-3PM, 2nd Shift: 3PM-11PM, 3rd Shift: 11PM-7AM)
- Availability to work full-time and overtime
- Proven die setting and/or compact press experience
- Functional understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Thorough understanding of the following:
- Press functions (set up, operation, maintenance, etc.)
- Mix changes, cleaning, cut-ups, and weight adjustments.
- Internal/external customer
