The SMX team located in Pittsburgh, PA is currently seeking candidates for the position of Batch Production Operators at Tandem Foods. This is a temp¿to¿hire opportunity, with associates eligible for conversion after completing 520 working hours. The Batch Production Operator is responsible for preparing and mixing dry ingredients in a food manufacturing facility. This role involves handling large quantities of ingredients, operating industrial mixers, and ensuring the prepared mixtures are correctly transported to the production line.

This is a full-time position available for the following shift(s):

  • A 1st Shift: 7am-3:30pm ($19.43)
  • B 2nd Shift: 3pm-11:30pm ($20.60)
  • C 3rd Shift: 11pm-7:30am ($20.60)
  • Day Shift: 7am-7:30pm ($19.43)
  • Night Shift: 7pm-7:30am ($20.60)
  • All shifts are Monday-Friday, with some weekend work required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Measure and mix dry ingredients according to production recipes and specifications.
  • Safely lift and handle large sacks of ingredients and transport them to mixing stations.
  • Operate industrial mixers and other equipment used in the blending process.
  • Shovel mixed ingredients into carts and transport them to the production line for further processing.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of mixing and production areas to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot any machine malfunctions or operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of ingredients used and batch production details.

  • Previous experience in a food production or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to lift heavy sacks of ingredients and perform physical tasks associated with the role.
  • Familiarity with operating industrial mixing equipment and handling bulk materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow production recipes accurately.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Relevant experience in batch production or a similar role is preferred.
  • Machine and mechanical knowledge a plus
  • Must be able to work standing for up to eight (8) hours per day. Saturday work may be required.
  • Working knowledge of key safety disciplines, such as LOTO, PPE, and machine guarding.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, and turn regularly.
  • Ability to regularly use ladders and stairs.
