The Bay Marshal plays a key frontline role in supporting passenger movement and operational safety within the venue loading and unloading areas during FIFA World Cup 2026 transport operations in Kansas City.

Working as part of the Venue Operations team, this position is responsible for directing spectators through designated queue areas, assisting with safe boarding and disembarkation, and ensuring smooth passenger flow around active bus loading bays. The Bay Marshal maintains a visible presence in high-traffic areas, providing wayfinding assistance and supporting safe interaction between pedestrians and vehicles.

This role requires strong situational awareness, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage large volumes of spectators in a fast-paced operational environment.

Job Responsibilities

Queue & Passenger Flow Management

  • Direct and manage the safe and efficient movement of spectators into, within, and out of designated queues within the Bus Mall.

Passenger Assistance

  • Assist passengers during boarding and disembarkation, ensuring accessibility needs are supported where required.

Safety Oversight

  • Maintain a visible presence in assigned bay areas to support passenger safety and operational awareness.

Wayfinding Support

  • Provide clear directions and guidance to spectators navigating the bus mall and transport areas.

Vehicle Interaction Safety

  • Help maintain safe separation between pedestrians and active vehicle movement within the transport zone.

Operational Monitoring

  • Identify and report hazards, safety concerns, or operational issues to supervisors promptly.

Operational Support

  • Support transport operations teams during peak passenger movements and high-volume periods.

Incident & Contingency Response

  • Assist in implementing contingency procedures during service disruptions or operational incidents.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

  • Be professional while interacting with spectators, drivers, and operational teams.
  • Maintain clear and respectful communication with international visitors and operational staff.
  • Follow operational procedures and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Demonstrate a positive, helpful attitude when assisting spectators.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail in dynamic operational environments.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, including the use of two-way radios.
  • Basic understanding of passenger service standards and accessibility requirements.
  • Ability to solve operational challenges such as delays, congestion, or passenger confusion in real time.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures in transport environments.
  • Basic awareness of crowd management, traffic flow, and event operations.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in busy, high-pressure situations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and match days.
  • Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods and assist with repositioning lightweight barriers or signage when required.
  • Fluency in English is required; multilingual ability is considered an advantage.
  • Previous experience in event staffing, customer service, transport operations, or security roles is preferred but not mandatory.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Field-based operational role within Bus Mall transport zones and passenger loading areas.
  • High interaction with spectators, drivers, and operational staff.
  • Outdoor work in busy, high-volume public environments.
  • Long operational shifts during match days, test events, and tournament transport operations.
  • Required to wear high-visibility PPE and follow safety procedures.

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated between $17.00 - $17.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the shift you work and other considerations permitted by law.
